What makes this Sri Lanka group trip special:
This trip is perfect for travelers looking for Sri Lanka group trips from Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and other Indian cities. With close proximity, easy visas and short travel time, Sri Lanka is one of the best international destinations for group travel from India.

This Sri Lanka group tour package is ideal for:

Sri Lanka Group Trip from India
A fixed-departure, group-format tour where independent travellers from Indian cities (Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Delhi) join a pre-organised itinerary together. All logistics — hotels, internal transfers, sightseeing entries and a dedicated coordinator — are arranged by the operator. International flights are booked separately by each traveller.
Double Occupancy
Two travellers sharing one hotel room. The ₹42,000 per person price is calculated on this basis. If you are travelling solo and prefer your own room, a single occupancy supplement is available — contact us for the current rate. Solo travellers who are comfortable sharing are paired with another solo traveller of the same gender.
Sri Lanka ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation)
The entry permit required for Indian passport holders visiting Sri Lanka. It is available online at eta.gov.lk or on arrival at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Current fee: USD 35 (approximately ₹2,900). Online processing takes 24–72 hours. The ETA allows a 30-day single-entry stay. Apply online before departure to avoid airport queues.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
Sri Lanka’s main international airport, located in Katunayake, approximately 30 km north of Colombo city centre. It is the primary entry and exit point for travellers arriving from India. Direct flights operate from Bangalore (~2 hrs), Chennai (~1.5 hrs), Kochi (~1.5 hrs), Mumbai (~2.5 hrs) and Tiruchirappalli (~1 hr).
Nine Arches Bridge (Demodara Bridge)
A colonial-era railway viaduct in Ella, built in 1921 entirely from brick and cement — no steel was used in its construction. It spans 91 metres across a jungle valley at an elevation of approximately 1,000 metres. Trains cross the bridge at approximately 8:30 AM, 1:00 PM and 5:15 PM — these are the best windows for photography. Entry to the viewing area is free.
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
A government-run wildlife sanctuary in Kegalle, established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. It houses over 90 elephants, making it the world’s largest captive elephant herd. The orphanage is best known for its twice-daily river bathing sessions, when the herd walks to the Maha Oya River. Entry fee applies and is included in the package.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden
Sri Lanka’s largest botanical garden, covering 147 acres near Kandy. Established in 1371 as a royal pleasure garden and converted to a botanical garden under British administration in 1843. Home to over 4,000 plant species including an orchid house, a palm avenue, and a 300-year-old Javanese fig tree with a canopy spanning over 2,500 square metres.
Galle Fort
A 16th-century coastal fortification in Galle originally built by the Portuguese in 1588 and significantly extended by the Dutch in 1663. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. The fort contains colonial-era streets, boutique cafés, the Galle Lighthouse, a Dutch Reformed Church (1755), and ocean-facing rampart walks. Entry to the fort area is free.
Blue Whale (Balaenoptera musculus)
The largest animal on Earth, reaching lengths of 25–30 metres and weights of up to 200 tonnes. Blue whales are regularly sighted off Mirissa’s southern coast from November through April, making Sri Lanka one of the top five blue whale watching destinations in the world. The 6 AM departure on Day 6 of this itinerary is timed for March, when sighting probability exceeds 85%.
Mirissa Whale Watching
A boat excursion departing from Mirissa Harbour, approximately 150 km south of Colombo. Tours typically depart at 6:00–6:30 AM and return by 10:30–11:00 AM. Blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins are the primary sightings. Sea conditions in late March are generally calm. Bring sunscreen (SPF 50+), sunglasses and a light jacket for the early morning boat ride.
Ravana Pool Club
Sri Lanka’s first cliff-edge infinity pool club, located in Ella with panoramic views across the valley. Entry fee applies and is not included in the package price — budget approximately LKR 1,500–2,500 per person. Best visited in the afternoon when the valley mist clears. Part of the Day 4 itinerary as an optional highlight.
Coconut Tree Hill (Mirissa)
A small rocky promontory at the eastern end of Mirissa beach, covered with naturally leaning coconut palms. One of the most photographed spots on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Entry is free. A 10-minute walk from the main beach. Best visited at sunset (approximately 6:00–6:15 PM in March). No facilities on site — carry water.
No-Cancel Policy
This trip operates a strict no-cancellation, no-refund policy once the 50% advance payment is made. The remaining 50% balance, due 30 days before departure, is also non-refundable. This policy exists because group trips involve pre-booked hotel rooms, vehicle hire and sightseeing entries for the entire group — individual cancellations create costs that cannot be recovered from a small group size of 10–15 people. Travel insurance with a cancellation cover clause is strongly recommended before booking.
GST and TCS on International Tour Packages
As per Indian tax regulations: GST (Goods and Services Tax) at 5% applies to the package cost. TCS (Tax Collected at Source) at 5% applies to international tour packages above ₹7 lakh per person per financial year (as of 2024–25 regulations — verify current rate at incometax.gov.in). TCS is not an additional expense — it is collected on your behalf and can be claimed as a credit when filing your Income Tax Return (ITR).
A: Yes. Solo travellers make up a significant portion of every departure. You will be paired with another solo traveller of the same gender for hotel sharing, or you can opt for a single room at an additional supplement (contact us for the current rate). The group format is specifically designed to be welcoming for solo travellers — most people arrive not knowing anyone and leave with friends.
A: Yes. Indian passport holders require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Sri Lanka. It can be applied for online at eta.gov.lk or obtained on arrival at Colombo airport. The current fee is USD 35 (approximately ₹2,900). Processing online takes 24–72 hours. We recommend applying online before departure to avoid queues.
A: November to April is the best season for the southern Sri Lanka circuit (Mirissa, Galle, Bentota) and for whale watching. March specifically is ideal — the beaches are excellent, whale sighting rates are high and the hill country (Ella, Nuwara Eliya) is cool and green. Avoid May–September for the southern route as the southwest monsoon affects beach and sea conditions.
A: This trip operates a strict no-cancellation, no-refund policy. Once the 50% advance is paid, it is non-refundable. The balance (remaining 50%) is due 30 days before departure and is similarly non-refundable. This policy exists because group trips involve pre-booked accommodation, transport and activity slots for the entire group — individual cancellations create costs that cannot be recovered. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with a cancellation cover clause before booking.
A: Flights to Colombo (Bandaranaike International Airport — CMB) operate from multiple Indian cities. Direct flights from Bangalore (~2 hrs), Chennai (~1.5 hrs) and Kochi (~1.5 hrs) are available via IndiGo, Air India Express and SriLankan Airlines. From Mumbai (~2.5 hrs) and Delhi (~3.5 hrs via connection), options include Air India and SriLankan Airlines. Book flights independently — search for flights arriving in Colombo before 12 noon on 28th March to make the Day 1 airport pickup. We coordinate pickup timing once you share your flight details.
A: Groups are capped at 10–15 travellers. Past departures have included friend groups, colleagues travelling together and solo joiners. The typical age range is 22–38 years. The trip is designed for people who enjoy a social, experience-driven travel style — it suits those who want to explore properly but don’t want to spend weeks planning logistics independently.
A: Yes. Couples can book on double occupancy (which is the default pricing basis) and share a room. The itinerary has a good mix of active sightseeing, beach time and group social activities. Couples tend to find the format works well — you travel as part of a group for logistics and meals, but have full freedom during free time blocks.
A: Lightweight cotton clothes for the coastal sections (Mirissa, Galle, Bentota) where temperatures are 28–32°C. A light jacket or fleece for Ella and Nuwara Eliya where nights drop to 12–16°C — this surprises many travellers. Sunscreen (SPF 50+ for boat trips and beach days), waterproof sandals for beach activities, a small day-bag and a power bank. Sri Lanka uses Type D/G sockets — same as India, so no adapter needed.
A: Daily breakfast is included at the hotel. The welcome dinner on Day 1 is included. All other lunches and dinners are at your own expense. Eating out in Sri Lanka is very affordable — a good restaurant meal costs approximately ₹400–800 per person. Your trip coordinator will recommend places at each location and the group typically eats together informally at dinner, though it is not mandatory.
A: Call or WhatsApp us on 8073184260 / 8062181175 / 8867023837, or email info@traveltriptourist.com. Confirm your seat by paying the 50% advance (₹21,000 per person). The remaining 50% is due 30 days before departure. Seats are limited to 15 — once full, the trip closes for bookings.
