The complete 6-day romantic Kerala couple getaway

🏡 Day 1: Arrival in Kochi – Explore & Ease In

  • Arrival and welcome at Kochi airport/railway station
  • Private vehicle transfer to Fort Kochi (group stays in a boutique heritage hotel)
  • Guided sunset walk along Fort Kochi beach, with Chinese fishing nets & colonial streets
  • Group welcome dinner at a sea-facing rooftop restaurant (romantic but social)
  • Stay: Heritage property or cozy sea-view hotel in Fort Kochi
Insider Tip: Book a room at a 1920s Dutch-era property if available — the thick walls keep it cool without AC and the courtyards are genuinely photogenic at dawn.

🌿 Day 2: Kochi to Munnar – Misty Hills & Waterfalls

  • Drive to Munnar (approx. 4.5 hrs with scenic stops)
  • Visit Cheeyappara Waterfalls en route
  • Check-in to a romantic hillside resort – each couple gets a private cottage or valley view room
  • Free evening to explore the resort, spa, or simply relax
  • Bonfire night with light music and couple icebreakers
  • Stay: Premium resort or couple-friendly property with nature views
Insider Tip: The drive from Kochi to Munnar passes through Neriamangalam — stop for 10 minutes at the hanging bridge. It’s quiet, green, and makes for genuinely beautiful couple photos without a photographer in sight.

🍃 Day 3: Munnar – Tea Trails & Together Time

  • Breakfast followed by group visit to Eravikulam National Park (or Tea Museum if closed)
  • Couple photoshoot at Top Station or tea gardens (optional add-on)
  • Free time for couples to explore nearby cafés or do a couple’s spa session
  • Evening: Romantic candlelight group dinner setup at resort
  • Stay: Same resort in Munnar

Insider Tip: Mattupetty Dam (6 km from central Munnar) is beautiful in the early morning before tour buses arrive. We skip it in the itinerary to keep the day light, but if you wake up early it’s a 20-minute detour worth taking

🛶 Day 4: Munnar to Alleppey – Houseboat Romance

  • Early checkout and drive to Alleppey (approx. 4.5–5 hrs)
  • Check-in to private houseboats (1 couple per boat or 2 per luxury boat)
  • 22-hour backwater cruise with fresh Kerala meals onboard
  • Sunset from the deck + candlelit dinner under the stars
  • Stay: Overnight on premium AC houseboat (private per couple or twin sharing)
Insider Tip: Request the boat captain to anchor in a quieter canal rather than the main lake for the night — the birdsong at 5:30 AM is extraordinary and you’ll have absolute privacy. We brief all our boat captains to do this by default.

🌊 Day 5: Marari Beach – Relax & Reconnect

  • Disembark from houseboat post breakfast
  • Short drive to Marari Beach – check-in to a beach resort
  • Free time for couples to swim, walk, or relax at spa
  • Optional group activity: beach games or coconut tree planting
  • Farewell dinner by the beach with mood lighting and music
  • Stay: Romantic beach resort with private cottages or poolside rooms
Insider Tip: Marari is far less touristy than Kovalam or Varkala — there are no hawkers on the beach. This is intentional. It’s why we end the trip here rather than somewhere louder.

✈️ Day 6: Departure from Kochi

  • Leisurely breakfast at the resort
  • Drive to Kochi airport or Ernakulam station (approx. 2 hrs)
  • Drop-off and goodbye hugs with the group!
Note on flights: Kochi International Airport (COK) is well-connected to all major Indian cities. If you’re flying, book your return no earlier than 2 PM on Day 6 to avoid a rushed morning.

Key terms explained for first-time Kerala travellers

If you’re planning your first romantic Kerala couple getaway, these terms come up often — here’s what they actually mean.

Kettuvallam (Houseboat)

  • Traditional rice barges converted into floating guesthouses. “Kettu” means tied and “vallam” means boat — they’re built from bamboo, coir rope, and bamboo poles without a single nail. Modern versions are fitted with bedrooms, a kitchen, and a sun deck. Ours are certified and inspected by the Kerala Tourism Department.

Backwaters

  • Kerala’s 900 km network of interconnected canals, rivers, lakes, and inlets that run parallel to the Arabian Sea coast. Alleppey (Alappuzha) is the main hub. The water is brackish — a mix of fresh river water and salt seawater. Houseboats navigate these channels and can reach remote villages inaccessible by road.

Ayurvedic Spa / Panchakarma

  • Kerala is the heartland of authentic Ayurvedic treatment. A couple’s spa typically includes Abhyanga (synchronised oil massage by two therapists) and Shirodhara (warm oil poured over the forehead). We recommend the 90-minute couple’s package at our Munnar resort — it’s not a hotel spa gimmick, it uses trained practitioners and local oils.

Travel Captain

  • Our term for the TTT team member who accompanies your group throughout the trip. Not just a guide — they handle logistics, liaise with hotels, know which roadside stall is safe to eat at, and make sure the houseboat captain anchors somewhere quiet. Every TTT trip has a dedicated captain, not a rotation of strangers.

Chinese Fishing Nets (Cheena Vala)

  • Cantilevered shore fishing nets found only in Fort Kochi and a few parts of Southeast Asia. They were introduced by Chinese traders in the 14th century. Operated by 4–6 workers using counterweights, they’re lowered into the sea at sunset. You can buy fresh catch directly from the fishermen and get it cooked at a shack nearby for ₹300–500.

Eravikulam National Park

  • A 97 sq km park near Munnar, home to the critically endangered Nilgiri Tahr (mountain goat). It sits at 2,000+ m elevation — significantly cooler than the town. The park closes during calving season (Jan 15 – Feb 28) and monsoon. We always check access dates before confirming your Day 3 plan and have a contingency (Tea Museum tour) ready.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from couples who’ve enquired about this romantic Kerala getaway — answered directly, without filler.

Q: What is the best time to plan a romantic Kerala couple getaway?

October to February is the best window. The weather is cool and dry, Munnar sits around 12–20°C at night, the backwaters are full after the monsoon, and houseboat cruises run without restriction. December and January are the most popular months — book at least 4–6 weeks ahead if you’re travelling then. Avoid June to September unless you specifically want a monsoon trip; the landscape is stunning but houseboat operations can be disrupted by heavy rain.

Q: Is this a private trip or will we be travelling with other couples?

This runs as a small group trip with 2–8 couples. Group moments — the welcome dinner, bonfire, and farewell beach dinner — are shared, but your accommodation is fully private. You get your own room, cottage, or houseboat; you are not sharing a living space with anyone else. If you want a fully private customised version of this trip, we offer that option too — WhatsApp us to discuss.

Q: Are flights to Kochi included in the ₹20,000 price?

No. Flights are booked separately by each couple. The package starts and ends at Kochi International Airport (COK) or Ernakulam Junction railway station. We send every couple a pre-trip briefing with recommended arrival and departure windows. A roundtrip flight from Bengaluru to Kochi typically costs ₹4,000–8,000 depending on how early you book.

Q: What does the “No Cancellation” policy actually mean?

It means we cannot issue a refund once the booking is confirmed, because houseboat slots, cottages, and transport are blocked and paid to our vendors immediately. However, we allow one free date reschedule to any future date within 6 months if requested at least 30 days before your departure. Rescheduling requests within 30 days are handled case by case. We strongly recommend taking travel insurance to cover unexpected changes — we can refer you to affordable options.

Q: Can we do this trip as a honeymoon?

Yes, and many couples do. If you’re booking this as a honeymoon, let us know at the time of confirming your slot. We will place you in the best room or cottage at each property, arrange a dedicated honeymoon setup — flowers, rose petals, and a personalised cake — at one of the stays, and prioritise early check-in where possible. There is no extra charge for this. We just need advance notice to coordinate with the properties.

Q: What is the houseboat experience actually like — is it worth it?

The Alleppey houseboat is the centrepiece of this romantic Kerala couple getaway for good reason. You board a private AC kettuvallam — a traditional converted rice barge — and spend 22 hours cruising through canals, past paddy fields and coconut groves, with a boat chef cooking fresh Kerala meals onboard. We ask the captain to anchor in a quieter side canal for the night rather than the crowded main lake, so you wake up to silence and birds instead of engine noise. Most couples tell us this is the single night of the trip they remember most.

Q: How much extra spending money should we budget per day?

Budget roughly ₹1,500–2,500 per couple per day for lunches and dinners not covered in the package, personal shopping, and incidentals. Specific costs to factor in: Eravikulam National Park entry is ₹125 per person; the couple’s Ayurvedic spa at Munnar is ₹2,000–3,500 per couple; the optional professional photoshoot at Top Station is ₹2,500; and alcohol is billed separately at each property. All of these are optional — you can do this trip comfortably without any of them.

Q: How do I book and what is the payment structure?

Call or WhatsApp us on +91 80731 84260 to check available dates. We will confirm your slot and send a detailed itinerary PDF with the exact properties. To confirm the booking we take a 30% advance — ₹6,000 per person — via UPI or bank transfer, with the remaining balance due 15 days before departure. We issue a proper GST invoice for every payment. We do not take cash bookings.
